Geared Construction were engaged to demolish, re-build and refurbish the existing change room block and public toilets at Yanchep’s popular swimming beach.
The works included demolition of the existing roof structure, internal walls and floor slab before remodelling the interior layout to provide new male, female and disabled changing facilities. The roof was re-pitched to provide a modern look and the external areas were re-landscaped with new paving, limestone retaining walls and stormwater upgrades.
Works were completed through the winter months which presented the risk of delay due to inclement weather, however through pro-active procurement and careful co-ordination of trades on site the works were able to be completed one week ahead of schedule to a high standard.
The new facility also included ambulant and disabled facilities that had to be completed to strict compliance requirements. This was carefully monitored and managed on site to ensure that there were no hold ups with compliance information on completion of the project.
Although the site was separated from the public, the remainder of the park was still in public use for the duration of the project. Site deliveries and traffic management around the area had to be carefully monitored and managed in order to minimise the risk of injury to the general public.
