Geared Construction were engaged to carry out minor refurbishment works to the existing library in Mirrabooka. Works were completed in an occupied area, with the upmost care and consideration given to the daily community groups and patrons of the library. Close communication with the key stakeholders ensured a smooth project with no disruptions.
The project included demolition of existing brick walls, new direct stick wall linings, painting, joinery and floor finishes.
The key to the success of this project was the planning and preparation prior to works commencing on site.
Joinery – The works at Mirrabooka involved the installation of new bar benches, storage and kitchenette.
Hydraulic Services – New water and waste services were provided to the kitchen.
Ceilings and partitions – New gyprock ceilings and bulkheads were installed to the IT room along with direct stick gyprock linings to existing face brickwork.
Resilient Flooring – New feature carpets were installed throughout the library.
